Differential effects of COVID-19 lockdowns on well-being: interaction between age, gender and chronotype

The unprecedented restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic altered our daily habits and severely affected well-being physiology. effect of these changes is yet be fully understood. Here, we analysed highly detailed data on 169 participants for two six months, before during second lockdown in Israel. We extracted 12 indicators from sensory smartwatches self-reported questionnaires, filled using a designated mobile application. found that, general, lockdowns resulted significant mood, sleep duration, sport social encounters, resting heart rate number steps. Examining subpopulations, that younger (aged 20–40 years) suffered greater decline mood steps than older 60–80 years). Likewise, women higher increase stress reduction encounters men. Younger early chronotypes did not their duration exhibited highest drop mood. Our findings underscore while impacted physiology damage has been identified certain subpopulations. Accordingly, special attention should given people, who are usually focus support, women.
